Mandatory CAIR Survey Requirement
The Current Agricultural Industrial Reports (CAIR) surveys are mandatory under the Census of Agriculture Act of 1997 and apply to businesses or other for-profit respondents. The notice estimates 635 respondents with reporting frequencies of monthly, quarterly, annually, and one-time, and a total burden of 2,280 hours; comments are requested by May 11, 2026.
Public Release of CAIR Data
Data from the CAIR surveys are published and made available to everyone at the same time on the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) website. This gives the public and businesses access to information on how U.S. crops, livestock, and poultry are used in consumer goods.
