Non-Registrants Gain CSA Database Access

If you are a non-registrant business, nonprofit, or government entity that needs to verify DEA registrants, you can register to access the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) Database to see the names and registration statuses of all DEA-registrants. This registration is used for activities like hiring practitioners or verifying prescriptions covered by Medicaid or Medicare.

Annual $20 Fee and Time Burden to Register

To get access to the CSA Database, applicants must complete the registration form and re-apply once per year. DEA estimates 16,000 respondents will each spend about 15 minutes per year and pay a $20 fee, for a total estimated annual cost of $320,000 and a total annual time burden of 4,000 hours.
