You can comment by June 22, 2026
The USPTO is asking for public comments on the Global Intellectual Property Academy (GIPA) surveys and will accept comments until June 22, 2026. If you have views about the surveys, you can submit them by email, Regulations.gov, or mail as explained in the notice.
Filling a GIPA survey takes about 15 minutes
Responding to a GIPA survey is voluntary and the USPTO estimates each response will take about 15 minutes (0.25 hours). The agency expects 14,508 annual respondents, totaling 3,627 burden hours and an estimated annual respondent hourly cost burden of $355,700 (using $98.07/hour).
No out-of-pocket fees or non-hourly costs
The USPTO says there are no non-hourly respondent costs for the GIPA surveys: no filing fees, start-up costs, recordkeeping costs, maintenance costs, or postage. You can submit answers electronically and sometimes in person.
