Named Agency Records May Be Kept or Destroyed

NARA posted specific proposed records schedules (for example: DHS SAFETY ACT DAA-0563-2026-0001; Bureau of Prisons DAA-0129-2025-0010 and others) that would authorize agencies to preserve some records in the National Archives or to destroy records after a specified period. Public comments received by June 5, 2026 will be considered before the Archivist approves or modifies these schedules.

Public Comment Opportunity on Record Schedules

You can review proposed federal records schedules and submit comments on regulations.gov using docket NARA-26-0199. Comments must be received by June 5, 2026, and each schedule in the docket has a separate comment button for submitting feedback.

Comments Will Be Publicly Posted

Any comments you submit on the docket (including personal information and attachments) will be posted to the public regulations.gov docket unchanged. If you need to submit confidential information, contact NARA at the provided email for instructions instead of using the public portal.
