Summary

The TSA is planning to launch a new tool where the public can report insider threats—people who might cause security problems from the inside. This helps TSA keep transportation safe and requires folks to share some details about suspicious events. Comments on this plan are open until June 22, 2026, and TSA wants to make sure this process is easy and useful without costing too much time or money.

New Insider Threat Reporting Tool

If you have or had authorized access to any DHS facility, information, equipment, network, or system, TSA is launching an online Insider Threat Incident Reporting Tool where you can submit details about suspected insider threats. TSA estimates about 312 people will use the tool each year, each report takes about 10 minutes (0.16667 hours) to complete, for an estimated annual burden of 52 hours.

Truth Attestation Requirement

When you submit a report through the Insider Threat Incident Reporting Tool, TSA requires you to attest that all information you submit is true. This attestation is a mandatory part of submitting the report.

Secure Handling and Privacy Protections

TSA will accept submissions through an online web tool and transmit them to a secure internal TSA network drive accessible only by authorized personnel. TSA states it will protect the collected information in accordance with DHS Directive 262-05-002.
