Medicare Survey: Fewer Questions
If you are a Medicare beneficiary, CMS will revise the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey beginning in Winter 2027 so you will answer fewer questionnaire items overall. The MCBS is a long-running, national survey with 13,568 respondents, 35,015 annual responses, and 31,891 total annual hours; CMS says the revision will produce a net decrease in respondent burden.
Hospice Survey Form Updated
CMS is reinstating the CMS-643 Hospice Survey and Deficiencies Report form with changes that reduce paperwork burdens for hospices, including removing the requirement that surveyors sign the form and entering data into the iQIES system. CMS states the CMS-643 poses minimal to no burden on hospice providers; the notice lists 7,029 respondents, 2,343 total annual responses, and 1,172 total annual hours.
