Published Date: 5/4/2026

Notice

Summary

Volkswagen found that some 2024-2025 Jetta and 2024 Taos models have a small issue with their tire pressure monitoring systems. They asked the government to say this problem doesn’t really affect safety, so they don’t have to fix it right away. If you want to share your thoughts, you’ve got until June 3, 2026, to speak up!

Volkswagen TPMS Tell‑Tale Lighting Issue

About 81,456 Volkswagen vehicles (model year 2024–2025 Jetta and 2024 Taos) produced between February 20, 2024 and October 11, 2024 may not flash the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) malfunction telltale for 60–90 seconds as required. Instead the telltale lights in a steady-on state, while the instrument cluster and infotainment screen briefly show text messages during each ignition cycle.

Possible No‑Notification/No‑Remedy Exemption

Volkswagen petitioned NHTSA on September 30, 2025 to declare the TPMS noncompliance inconsequential so it would be exempt from the legal duties to notify owners and provide a remedy under 49 U.S.C. 30118 and 30120. If NHTSA grants that petition for the affected vehicles no longer controlled by Volkswagen, owners of those vehicles may not receive a manufacturer notification or a manufacturer remedy.
