NYSE Arca Opens Tokenized Trading

You can trade certain securities on NYSE Arca in tokenized (blockchain) form during the Depository Trust Company's (DTC) pilot program. The Exchange's rule change took effect on April 29, 2026, and tokenized shares that are fungible, share the same CUSIP and symbol, and confer the same rights will trade on the same order book and with the same execution priority as traditional shares.

Tokenization Limited to Russell 1000 and Major ETFs

You can only trade tokenized equities on NYSE Arca for securities that are in the Russell 1000 at launch (and additions thereafter) and for exchange-traded funds that track major indices. Other stocks and smaller-cap securities are not eligible under this proposal.

Brokers Must Flag Tokenization; Bear Responsibility

ETP Holders and DTC Eligible Participants who want their trades cleared and settled in tokenized form must select a tokenization flag at order entry and are responsible for determining their own eligibility and compatible blockchains or wallet addresses. If a participant is not eligible or DTC cannot execute the tokenization instruction, the order will settle in traditional form.

No Fee or Settlement Changes for Token Trades

If you trade tokenized shares on NYSE Arca, the Exchange says its fee schedule and pricing will not vary by whether shares are tokenized or traditional, market data will not differentiate tokenized versus traditional shares, and trades handled by DTC will continue to settle on a T+1 basis.
