Meeting Shapes Volcano Monitoring Plans

The NVEWSAC meeting on June 3–4, 2026 will discuss volcano monitoring, observatory systems, policy updates, and plan development, which affects communities near volcanoes, scientists, and policymakers by shaping volcano monitoring and warning plans. The committee provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of the Interior through the USGS Director.

Public Attendance Requires Registration

If you want to attend the NVEWSAC meeting in person or by webinar, you must register by May 30, 2026. The meeting is on June 3–4, 2026, at the Department of the Interior Building in Washington, DC, and webinar instructions will be emailed to registered attendees.

Accommodations Available On Request

People needing sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices, or other accommodations should contact the USGS at least seven (7) business days before the June 3–4, 2026 meeting to request them. Requests are handled case-by-case to allow reasonable accommodations.

Public Comment Opportunities and Deadlines

There will be an opportunity for public comment each day of the June 3–4, 2026 meeting, and written comments must be provided at least three (3) business days before the meeting to be considered. Written comments submitted will be provided to committee members before the meeting and meeting minutes will be available within 90 days after the meeting.
