Tell the Fed Before Buying a Bank
If you want to buy or control a bank or a bank holding company, you must file a notice with the Federal Reserve under the Change in Bank Control Act (12 U.S.C. 1817(j)) and Regulation Y (12 CFR 225.41) and await the Board's action. The Board considers the factors listed in paragraph 7 of the Act when it acts, and the public portions of applications are available for inspection at the listed Federal Reserve Bank(s) and at the Board of Governors.
Comments on Applications Are Public
If you send a comment about one of these bank-control applications, the public portion of the application and your comment may be made available for inspection and the Board will generally make comments available without change. Do not include confidential or identifying information in comments; comments must be received at the indicated Reserve Bank or the Board of Governors not later than May 28, 2026.
