USPS Updates Priority Mail Prices Starting Next Month

USPS Ground Advantage Commercial +11.8%

USPS Ground Advantage Commercial will eliminate ounce-based rate differentiation and this change results in an average price increase of 11.8% for commercial customers, effective July 12, 2026. Retail Ground Advantage prices will remain unchanged.

Dimensional Weight Divisor Changed to 139

Dimensional weighting for Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, Parcel Select, and USPS Ground Advantage will use a dimensional divisor of 139 instead of 166, effective July 12, 2026. The change is intended to better align with industry standards.

HazMat Undeclared Fee: $50 Penalty

If hazardous materials are detected but not properly declared and labeled, a HazMat Noncompliance Fee of $50 will be applied to any competitive commercial product. This fee goes into effect with the Postal Service competitive product changes on July 12, 2026.

HazMat Handling Fee: $7.50 per Package

A HazMat Handling Fee of $7.50 will apply for Priority Mail Express and Priority Mail to cover manual handling required when hazardous materials are transported by air. This change is effective July 12, 2026.

Parcel Select & Ground HazMat Handling Initially $0

For Parcel Select and USPS Ground Advantage, a HazMat Handling Fee will be established but set at $0 initially, with the option for the fee to increase in the future. This policy is part of the competitive product changes effective July 12, 2026.

Parcel Select Forwarding Price Jump

The price for Parcel Select Forwarding and Returns will increase from $3.80 to $6.00, effective July 12, 2026, to encourage better address quality. This change raises the per-item charge by $2.20.

ACS Shipper Paid Forwarding Price Increase

For customers using Address Correction Service (ACS) with Shipper Paid Forwarding/Return, the price will increase from $3.20 to $5.40 effective July 12, 2026. This raises the per-request charge by $2.20.

Competitive Post Office Box Prices +3.0%

Competitive Post Office Box prices will increase by an average of 3.0% within existing price ranges, effective July 12, 2026. The change applies to competitive Post Office Box offerings.

New Addresses API Address-Validation Service

A new Addresses API service will be introduced under Address Enhancement Services to validate and correct address information, with monthly tiered pricing that varies by number of record requests. The Addresses API and the existing AMS API will both be offered, and most customers are expected to migrate over time; changes take effect July 12, 2026.

Package Intercept Rate Category Change

The definition of Package Intercept will be changed so that intercepted packages will use the original product and rate category, rather than always being forwarded or returned via Priority Mail. This classification change is effective July 12, 2026.
