Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 1 mixed.

Landowners: Property Use and Eminent Domain

If you own land near the Athens Compressor Station in Athens County, Ohio, your property could be used for the project (about 32.8 acres would be disturbed). The notice says there are up to 21.1 acres of existing right-of-way, 11.7 acres of temporary right-of-way for construction, and Texas Eastern provided a FERC fact sheet about eminent domain and how landowners can participate in proceedings.

50,000 Dth/d Capacity Added to Serve Kentucky Utilities

The project would expand compression at the Athens Compressor Station to provide an additional 50,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of firm natural gas transportation capacity to serve Kentucky Utilities. The filing is part of FERC's NEPA review and may affect regional gas flow and reliability as it proceeds through environmental review.

NEPA and Historic-Property Reviews Launched

FERC will prepare an environmental document (an Environmental Assessment or an Environmental Impact Statement) to study impacts on geology, water, wetlands, vegetation, wildlife, threatened species, cultural resources, air quality, noise, and safety. The notice also initiates consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act with State Historic Preservation Offices, tribes, and the public about effects on historic properties.
