Term limits for Congress members
This bill would propose a constitutional amendment to cap time in Congress. House members could serve up to six two-year terms (12 years). Senators could serve up to two six-year terms (12 years). Serving more than one year in a House term, or more than three years in a Senate term, would count as a full term. It would not apply to anyone who served before the 118th Congress. It would take effect only if two-thirds of Congress propose it and three-fourths of states ratify within seven years.
