New address checks for Medicaid and CHIP
If enacted, states would regularly check and update Medicaid addresses using reliable sources and act on changes. This would apply in the 50 States and D.C., and CHIP would be tied to the same rule upon enactment. Starting January 1, 2026, Medicaid managed care plans would have to send any address you give or confirm to the state. This could reduce lost mail and help prevent coverage gaps.
