GRAIN DRY Act
Sponsored By: Representative Finstad
In Committee
Summary
Makes on-farm propane storage an eligible use of USDA storage facility loans. The GRAIN DRY Act would amend the storage facility loan program in the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 to let agricultural producers construct or upgrade propane storage facilities that are primarily used for agricultural production. It would tie that eligibility to the federal definition of agricultural production in 7 CFR 4279.2 as in effect on the date of enactment. The bill would also set its short title as the Growing Rural Agricultural Infrastructure Needs to Deliver Rising Yields Act.

Farm loans for propane storage
If enacted, farms could use the storage facility loan program to build or upgrade propane storage. The propane would need to be used mainly for agricultural production. The term “agricultural production” would follow the Department of Agriculture’s existing definition on the date this becomes law. The change would take effect upon enactment.
