Show full summary
  • Irish workers would be eligible as principal E-3 applicants and face a new annual allocation equal to the difference between 10,500 and the number of Australian E-3 approvals in the prior fiscal year.
  • Employers hiring those Irish principals must attest they participate in E-Verify and remain in good standing for the worker's authorized employment.
  • The Ireland allocation applies only to principal applicants and does not limit spouses or children of E-3 principals.
  • Australia's E-3 cap remains up to 10,500 per year and serves as the reference point for Ireland's separate quota.

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

E-3 work visas for Irish citizens

If enacted, Irish citizens could apply for E-3 work visas, if the Secretary of State finds reciprocity. The cap for Australians would stay at 10,500 approvals each year. The yearly Irish limit would equal 10,500 minus last year’s Australian approvals. Only the main applicant would count toward the cap, not spouses or children. For counting, Irish approvals would be treated as if made on September 30 of the prior fiscal year.

E-Verify required for Irish E-3 hires

If enacted, employers who file an E-3 attestation for an Irish worker would need to use E-Verify. They would have to stay in good standing during the worker’s authorized employment. This would add paperwork and compliance steps for those employers. It would apply only to attestations for Irish nationals seeking E-3 status.
