- Families and seniors: Medicare beneficiaries at risk for lung cancer could access a wider range of FDA-cleared screening options under Part B when deemed "appropriate individuals" by the Secretary.
- Providers and health systems: Clinicians and clinics could bill Part B for these additional preventive screenings under rules and payment rates the Secretary establishes.
- Test developers: Manufacturers of FDA-cleared or approved lung cancer screening tests would have a clearer path to Medicare preventive coverage beyond the existing national coverage determination 210.14.

More Medicare lung cancer screenings covered
If enacted, Medicare Part B could cover more FDA-cleared or approved lung cancer screening tests. Coverage would apply only for people who meet eligibility rules the HHS Secretary sets. The Secretary would decide how often tests are covered and set payment limits after consulting expert groups. This would be in addition to Medicare’s current lung screening coverage under NCD 210.14. Decisions would use the national coverage determination process and would start on the date of enactment for services on or after that date.
