Federal lab to test radio spectrum
The bill would have the Commerce Department run a federal test lab called the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences. It would study radio signals, how they travel, and how to reduce interference. Help build better emergency tracking tech
The bill would start an initiative to improve emergency communications and tracking. It would focus on finding people trapped in places like mines, high-rise buildings, or collapsed structures. The agency would work with companies and other federal agencies. It would do a needs study and develop technical plans. A report to Congress would be due within 18 months of enactment.
