Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act
Sponsored By: Representative Miller-Meeks
Passed House
Summary
Determine if key infrastructure products can be made in the U.S. This bill would direct the Secretary of Commerce to study whether the United States can manufacture products used in the 16 designated critical infrastructure sectors that are imported because of manufacturing, material, or supply chain constraints. The study, due in one year, must identify high‑demand imported products, analyze costs and benefits including job and labor effects and product cost, and flag items that could feasibly be made domestically. It would assess barriers to building that manufacturing in rural areas and industrial parks and require a public report to Congress within 18 months. The Secretary could not compel people to provide information for the study.
