Summary
Bans commercial import, sale, and interstate trade of kangaroos and kangaroo products. The Kangaroo Protection Act of 2025 would make it illegal to bring into the United States for commercial purposes, possess with intent to sell, or sell four specified kangaroo species. It would also ban introducing, manufacturing for introduction, selling, offering to sell, trading, advertising, transporting, or distributing any kangaroo product in interstate commerce. Violations carry up to a $10,000 fine, up to one year in prison, or both. The Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Secretary of Agriculture, would issue regulations to implement the law. The prohibitions take effect 180 days after enactment.

Businesses barred from selling kangaroo products
If enacted, businesses would be barred from importing, selling, advertising, or shipping kangaroo products. The ban would cover four listed kangaroo species and any item made in whole or in part from them. Knowingly breaking the rule could bring up to a $10,000 fine per violation and up to 1 year in jail. Each sale or shipment could count as a separate offense, with cases filed where the item was held. The Secretary of Commerce would issue rules after consulting Justice and Agriculture, and the ban would start 180 days after enactment.
