Summary
Block U.S. support for international financing of shrimp farms, processing, and exports. This bill would require the Treasury Secretary to direct U.S. Executive Directors at international financial institutions to use their voice and vote to oppose any assistance for shrimp farming, shrimp processing, or shrimp export projects in borrowing countries. The Secretary could waive opposition for a particular project by notifying Congress, and the voice-and-vote requirement would expire seven years after enactment.

If enacted, the Treasury Secretary would direct U.S. representatives at international financial institutions to vote against loans or other financial help for shrimp farms, shrimp processing, or shrimp exports in other countries. The Secretary could waive that instruction for a particular project only after notifying Congress that the waiver is in the national interest. The voting instruction would expire seven years after the law starts.
