Summary

Places about 265 acres into trust for the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. It would revoke a 1964 public land order and require the Secretary of the Interior to take two parcels, roughly 80 acres and 185 acres, into trust within 180 days, subject to valid existing rights and any needed surveys to correct minor errors. Trust land for Shingle Springs Tribe

If enacted, the Interior Secretary would place about 265 acres into trust for the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians within 180 days. This includes about 80 acres and about 185 acres shown on the official map. The land would become part of the Tribe’s Reservation and be managed under federal trust land rules. The Secretary would review if a survey is needed, do it if required, and keep it on file for public inspection. The bill would also revoke a 1964 public land order and move control to Interior to allow this transfer.

No gaming on new tribal trust land

If enacted, the parcels placed into trust under this bill could not be used for Class II or Class III gaming under federal law. The ban would start when the land becomes trust land, no later than 180 days after enactment. This limit would apply only to the new trust parcels for the Tribe.
