Show full summary
- Patients and families: Adults with severe hereditary Alpha‑1 who are enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B and not in Medicare Advantage would be eligible to receive augmentation therapy in their home from qualified home infusion therapy suppliers.
- Home infusion suppliers and nurses: Qualified suppliers would be reimbursed under a new Part B provision for intravenous administration kits and for up to 2 hours of nursing care per visit. Payment would be made to the supplier and set at 80% of the lesser of the actual charge or the amount determined under the new rule.
- Providers and benefit rules: The bill designates physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants as applicable providers overseeing home infusion and excludes these IV kits and nursing services from the separate home health benefit.
