Wage and overtime exemption for seasonal outdoor guides
This bill would exempt some outdoor guides and gear-rental staff from federal minimum wage and overtime rules. It would apply only if you are a W-2 employee who mainly outfits or guides for a business that provides those services, including equipment rentals. The employer would also need to be seasonal: it operates 7 months or less in a year, or its average receipts for any 6 months are no more than 33 1/3% of the other 6 months. If those tests are met, the employer would not have to follow federal minimum wage and overtime rules for these workers. This would apply to workweeks starting on or after the date of enactment.
