Faster VA hiring for scholarship grads
If you are in the VA Health Professionals Scholarship Program, the VA would have to offer you a full-time clinical job within 90 days after you finish the program or get all required licenses and credentials. Placement would be at a VA facility the Secretary says has the highest need. The job would include a competitive salary and benefits under VA standards. The VA would report to Congress 180 days after enactment and every 180 days until September 30, 2027.
No smoking at VA health facilities
This bill would ban smoking on the premises (buildings and grounds) of any Veterans Health Administration facility. "Smoking" would include cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vape pens, and e-cigars. The rule would apply to veterans, patients, residents, VA employees, contractors, and visitors. It would also repeal a related 1992 law section. The ban would take effect upon enactment.
