Big cuts to development and economic aid

The law rescinds $2.5 billion from Development Assistance and $1.65 billion from the Economic Support Fund. It preserves funds for Feed the Future Innovation Labs and the Countering PRC Influence Fund. It preserves assistance to Jordan and Egypt. It does not affect Food for Peace or McGovern-Dole food aid administration. These changes take effect now.

Cuts to democracy, crisis, and regional aid

The law cuts multiple foreign aid lines. It rescinds $460 million for Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia assistance. It cancels $125 million in USAID operating funds. It cuts $83 million from the Democracy Fund and $43 million from the Complex Crises Fund. It cuts $57 million from Transition Initiatives, $27 million from the Inter-American Foundation, $22 million from the U.S. African Development Foundation, and $15 million from the U.S. Institute of Peace. These changes take effect now.

Cuts to international groups and peacekeeping

The law rescinds funds for international organizations and peacekeeping. It cancels $168.8 million (FY2025) and $33.0 million (FY2024) for contributions to international organizations. It cancels $203.3 million (FY2024) and $157.9 million (FY2025) for peacekeeping. It cancels $436.9 million for multilateral organizations and $125.0 million for the Clean Technology Fund. These changes take effect now.

Global health aid cut with protections

The law rescinds $500 million from Global Health Programs. Funds for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, nutrition, and maternal and child health are protected. The protection does not cover family planning and reproductive health. The change takes effect now.

Less money for disaster aid abroad

The law rescinds $496 million from International Disaster Assistance. It does not affect Food for Peace or McGovern-Dole food aid administration. This takes effect now.

Less money for refugee assistance

The law rescinds $800 million from Migration and Refugee Assistance. This reduces aid for refugees and resettlement partners. It takes effect now.

Public broadcasting funds for 2026 and 2027 canceled

The law rescinds funds previously set for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for fiscal years 2026 and 2027. This reduces federal support for public radio and television. It takes effect now.
