Drug discounts for rural emergency hospitals

If enacted, some rural emergency hospitals would buy medicines at lower prices under a federal discount program. To qualify, a hospital must be a rural emergency hospital. It must also be either owned or run by a state or local government; a public or private nonprofit granted government powers; or a private nonprofit with a state or local contract to serve low-income patients who are not on Medicare or Medicaid. If you get care at one of these hospitals, you could see lower drug costs or more services. The change would take effect upon enactment.
