Microplastics Safety Act

Summary
A federal study on microplastics' human health impacts. This bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services, through the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, to study how microplastics in food and drinking water affect people. The study must identify major exposure pathways and examine effects on children's health, the endocrine system, cancer, chronic illness, and reproductive and other health areas the Secretary determines appropriate. A report with findings and recommendations to Congress would be due within one year.

If enacted, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, through the Food and Drug Administration, would study how microplastics in food and water affect people. The Secretary would send Congress a report with findings and recommended actions within 1 year after enactment.
