No federal income tax for a U.S. Pope

If enacted, a U.S. citizen who serves any part of a tax year as the Pope would not owe federal income tax for that year. This would apply to tax years ending after May 8, 2025. It would only cover federal income taxes. Other taxes and years when they do not serve would not be exempt.

Keep U.S. citizenship if elected Pope

If enacted, a U.S. citizen elected Pope could not have their U.S. citizenship revoked. This protection would start on the date of enactment. It would not change citizenship rules for anyone else.
