Broader U.S. power against foreign car makers

This bill would broaden U.S. trade actions against foreign car makers. It would cover gas, hybrid, and certain battery‑electric passenger cars that are ready for sale. Actions could target firms tied to China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea, and cars they make in other countries when a related section 301 duty already applies. Before changing or ending these actions, the U.S. Trade Representative would consult at least 30 days in advance and allow affected parties to be heard. The Trade Representative could also take extra steps to keep these actions effective. If enacted, these rules would take effect on the date it is signed and would apply to section 301 actions taken before, on, or after that date.
