This bill would extend the window for rural “middle-mile” broadband projects. It would change the years in the Rural Electrification Act from 2018–2023 to 2026–2031. If enacted, providers and communities could keep using that authority to plan or build lines that connect local networks. It would take effect when enacted and would not add new funding or new eligibility rules.
