Sickle cell Medicaid health homes with dental and vision

Starting January 1, 2026, states could create Medicaid health homes focused on sickle cell disease. The HHS Secretary would have to approve each state plan, so programs are not guaranteed. If a state runs one approved on or after that date, it would have to include dental and vision for people with sickle cell disease who enroll. This would apply even if the state does not offer those services to other Medicaid members. You would need to be on Medicaid and have sickle cell disease confirmed by newborn screening or another genetic test.
