This bill would reserve 15% of Health Profession Opportunity Grant funding for Indian tribes and related institutions, and guarantee at least 10 tribal grants.

It would amend the Health Profession Opportunity Grant program to set aside 15 percent of yearly HPOG funds for grants to Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and Tribal Colleges and Universities. It would also require the Secretary to award at least 10 grants under that subsection to eligible tribal entities when there are a sufficient number of applications that meet program rules. The amendments would take effect on October 1, 2025.

If enacted, 15% of Health Profession Opportunity Grant funds would be set aside each year for Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and Tribal Colleges and Universities.
