Defense AI institutes at U.S. colleges

The Department of Defense would be able to fund at least one AI research institute at an eligible U.S. college. Awards would run for five years and could be renewed once for another five years. Money could support secure datasets, AI testbeds, computing access, software help, research on defense challenges, outreach, and workforce training. All awards, including subgrants, would go only to U.S.-based recipients. Grants would be competitive and merit-based, and DoD could work with other federal agencies.
