New youth fitness advisory council
If enacted, the bill would create a President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. The President could appoint up to 30 members for 2-year terms. Members would not be paid, but travel and per diem could be reimbursed if funds are available. The Council would advise the President and suggest ways to boost youth fitness and nutrition, including ways to reestablish the Presidential Fitness Test and school challenges. HHS could fund and support the Council if Congress provides money, and agencies could share information as allowed by law. The Council would end 2 years after enactment unless the President extends it.
