Summary

Expand veterans' access to eyeglass fittings through non-VA care. This bill would add "services, fittings for eyeglass lenses" to the list of medical services that may be furnished to veterans under the Veterans Community Care Program (VCCP). It would make eyeglass lens fittings a reimbursable service from non-VA providers when care is authorized under 38 U.S.C. 1703, and direct the VA to set rules so eligible veterans can schedule fittings with providers that are geographically proximate.

  • Oversight: The VA must report to Congress within 180 days after enactment on implementation status, challenges, mitigation strategies, and benefits to veterans.
