Summary
Expanded state reporting on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the bill's core aim. This bill would amend the Public Health Service Act so State plans for the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grants must describe the types of drugs available for MAT in the State's system of care. It would also require states to describe MAT programs or protocols used for diversion and misuse prevention and enforcement. States must report data on any misuse of drugs used for MAT, including cases where MAT drugs are mixed with other prescription medicines. Finally states must describe drug screening protocols used in their systems of care, including any protocols specific to patients who receive MAT.

New state reporting on addiction treatment
If enacted, States would need to add more detail to their block grant plans for substance use services. They would list which medications for addiction treatment are available in their system of care. They would explain their programs and rules to prevent diversion and misuse. They would report data on misuse, including when these drugs are mixed with other prescriptions. They would also report their drug screening protocols, including any special rules for patients on these medications.
