Medicaid would cover mental health hospital care
This bill would let Medicaid pay for care in mental health hospitals and similar facilities. It would remove the long-standing ban on Medicaid payment for people in these institutions and end the under-65 limit. If you are on Medicaid and get inpatient mental health care, your stay and services could be covered. These changes would apply to items and services furnished on or after October 1, 2025. States would run the change through their Medicaid programs.
