Block UN carbon taxes for Americans
If enacted, the bill would bar the United Nations and its affiliated bodies from levying any tax, tariff, fee, or penalty on U.S. citizens or U.S. companies. The ban would not apply if the charge is part of an agreement the United States has in force and the Senate has ratified. It would also bar use of U.S. funds for assessed or voluntary UN contributions that would be used to impose a global carbon tax, and bar funding for implementing or enforcing such a tax. The bill defines a "global carbon tax" as a fuel tax under a global shipping regime that charges ship owners or operators based on emissions. These rules would take effect upon enactment.
