More inpatient mental health help for Medicaid
If enacted, Medicaid recipients would be able to get federal matching funds for inpatient mental health care in institutions for mental diseases (IMDs). This would apply to care furnished on or after January 1, 2027. States could claim Federal Financial Participation (FFP) for inpatient services that were previously excluded. The bill also makes a related timing fix to certain Medicaid waiver rules before January 1, 2027. The text does not set new dollar amounts or change matching rates.
