This bill would create a waiver system letting the Secretary of Agriculture waive required cash matches for rehabilitation projects after wildland fires on National Forest System land. It defines covered wildland fires and the matching requirements that could be waived.

  • Families and individuals in affected areas would be eligible for 100% federal funding to repair direct and indirect damages under authorized federal recovery programs when a fire is determined to be caused by the Department of Agriculture's management activities on National Forest System land.
  • States, Indian Tribes, and localities could get waiver of cash matching requirements so they would not have to provide matching funds for recovery projects in areas affected by those fires.
