Fairness to Kids with Cancer Act of 2025

Sponsored By: Representative Rep. Fitzpatrick, Brian K. [R-PA-1]

Introduced

Summary

Match pediatric cancer research funding to the child population share. This bill would require that, starting in fiscal year 2026 and each year after, the President ensure the percentage of federal cancer research funds obligated for pediatric cancer equals the percentage of Americans under 18, using the Bureau of the Census population figures to set that share.

Kids' cancer research funding set by population

If enacted, the President would ensure kids' cancer research gets the same share as kids' share of the U.S. population. This would start in fiscal year 2026 and repeat each year. The share would use Census counts from the end of the prior fiscal year. The rule would apply to all federal cancer research funds and could shift dollars toward pediatric research.
