Medicare would cover early Alzheimer's tests

If enacted, Medicare would start covering certain early Alzheimer’s and dementia screening tests on January 1, 2028. To qualify, a test would need FDA clearance or approval and fit the bill’s test types. This includes blood-based genomic tests or similar lab or imaging tests using blood or other samples, as allowed by the Secretary. If you get a qualifying test, Medicare would pay, so you could owe less out of pocket. The bill does not set payment amounts or patient cost-sharing rules.
