Recognition for Cadet Nurse veterans

If enacted, the bill would let people who served in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps from July 1, 1943 to December 31, 1948 get an honorable discharge if the Secretary of Defense finds their service warrants it. The Secretary would have to issue those discharges within one year after enactment and set the discharge date to when the person's CNC service ended. That CNC service would be treated as active duty for VA headstones, markers, and related benefits under chapters 23 and 24 of title 38, but it would not by itself make you eligible for other VA benefits. The bill would also let the Secretary of Defense create a medal, plaque, gravemarker, or other commendation for people who receive the discharge.
