No federal tax on trafficking awards
If enacted, money you get from a human trafficking case would not be taxed as income. This would cover court-ordered restitution in a criminal case and damages from a civil lawsuit. It would apply only to awards tied to federal trafficking cases. The change would start for tax years that begin after the bill becomes law.
