Grants for solar at health centers
If enacted, the bill would create a Department of Energy grant program to help Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) use solar panels and energy storage. The Secretary of Energy would have not later than 180 days after enactment to set up the program. Eligible applicants would include state or local governments, FQHCs, nonprofit membership groups that include FQHCs, and provider consortia mostly owned or controlled by FQHCs. Grants could only pay to install solar or energy storage at one or more FQHCs, or to provide technical assistance on design, installation, operation, or use. The bill authorizes $50,000,000 to be appropriated for each fiscal year 2026 through 2030.
