More opioid help for kinship families

If enacted, the government would authorize $255 million each year from FY2028 to FY2033 for Section 1003 grants. States and local agencies would use the money for kids, caregivers, and kinship families affected by opioids. Each year, 1% would be reserved for the kinship-focused activities added by this bill. Allowed uses would include workforce training, health care services, and foster or adoptive parent recruitment. The bill would define a kinship caregiver as a relative who lives with the child, is the main caregiver because a parent cannot or will not, and has a legal tie or is raising the child informally.
