Benay Taub Lung Cancer Research Act

New task force on lung cancer research

If enacted, the Secretary of Health and Human Services would set up a Lung Cancer Task Force at the National Institutes of Health. The Secretary would appoint members, including at least one from the National Cancer Institute and one from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. The task force would study gaps in research, funding, and patient access compared to other diseases. It would review federal lung cancer research funding versus disease burden and look at U.S. screening. Within 180 days after enactment, the Secretary would send Congress a report with findings and funding recommendations.
