Show full summary
- Families and surviving relatives: Veterans who died before November 11, 1998 can now qualify for Department of Veterans Affairs headstones, markers, and burial receptacles because the bill removes that date restriction.
- Survivors when an urn or plaque is provided: The bill authorizes additional burial benefits and reorganizes the related language. That change applies to individuals who die on or after January 5, 2021.
- Veterans with pension ties: The law extends a statutory date in pension payment rules by replacing November 30, 2031 with May 31, 2033, lengthening the period for certain pension payment limits.

More VA grave marker access for families
If enacted, this would broaden who can get VA headstones, markers, and burial receptacles by removing an old death-date limit. It would also reorganize wording in subsection (h) and apply that subsection change for people who die on or after January 5, 2021. The bill does not create cash payments.
VA pension limits extended to 2033
If enacted, this would extend the date in law that keeps certain VA pension payment limits from November 30, 2031 to May 31, 2033. That would keep the existing payment limits in place longer for people subject to 38 U.S.C. 5503(d)(7). The change would take effect upon enactment.
