New student loan disclosures for senior appointees

If enacted, certain executive branch employees would have to disclose federal student loan balances. You would be covered if you hold a Senior Executive Service or Schedule C job. Current covered employees would need to file within 60 days after enactment. New covered employees would need to file within 60 days of starting. Each year, an update would be due by February 28. You would report the outstanding principal and interest on Direct Loans and on older FFEL or Perkins loans. By May 1 each year, the Office of Government Ethics would report totals to Congress and list any covered employee who did not file. This would add reporting only and would not change your loan terms or payment amount.
